MCDA Recognized By Mayor Vigeant

An outdoor barbecue was held in the courtyard of the Marlborough Community Development Authority in honor of a very special occasion. Mary Shannon and her husband had been displaced due to financial difficulties following her husband's diagnosis with cancer. The family was in dire need of immediate housing, and the MCDA was there to help. "We just want to say thank you, and thank you for being such kind neighbors. This is the way it should be, and it shows what we can do if we just put our minds to helping one another," says Mrs. Shannon. Meet Mike Matros: a life-long Marlborough resident, local Firefighter, devoted husband, father and an active member of the community and to add to the list- the city has announced that Matros is the 2017 Grand Marshal of Marlborough's annual Labor Day Parade.

School Choice Could Come to Marlborough Schools

Other MetroWest school districts offer school choice, accepting students from other districts into their schools. Marlborough Public Schools says it's getting closer to adopting that option.

Girl Scout Ambassador and Marlborough High school STEM student, Eliana Greenstein Himle, is working with the Boys and Girls club to help achieve her Girl Scout Gold award by introducing the STEM program to children at a young age!

MetroFest 2017

The 4th annual MetroFest came back to Bowditch Park this year to give local residents a taste of the Metrowest. From food trucks to artisans, music and local organizations, the MetroFest made sure to have something for everyone. WMCT’s Zoe Zandora and Emmalyn Anderson reporting.

Assabet students teamed up with OARS for their 30th anniversary by taking trash out of the Assabet River and making into a musical sculpture; a piece of treasure that is now found of the side of the Rail Trail in Hudson.

MassWildlife Hosts Second Annual Open House

On Saturday, June 10th, MassWildlife hosted its second annual open house in Westborough. Starting last year as what Jack Buckley, Director, describes as a "one-off" event in celebration of their 150th anniversary, the open house became such a success that he decided to do it again. "We have people of all ages from all over the state-and all over the world, at this event," he explains. The crowd comes not only to learn about skills such as fly fishing, archery and to see live animals, but also to enjoy talking with the staff and exploring the beautiful landscape surrounding Mass Wildlife's new building. 24 Heroes in 24 Hours

A fundraising event Memorial Day honoring our Nation’s heroes and raising money to support veterans and their families. In 24 hours, teams of athletes competed at Pennant CrossFit in Southborough 24 Hero WODs, one WOD at the top of each hour. All boxes and all proceeds raised were donated to Veterans Inc. based in Worcester.

Behind The Scenes: Figawi Regatta 2017

It all started back in 1972, when a few friends decided to have a competitive sail from Hyannis to Nantucket. It soon caught on, and what became known as the Figawi Race now makes room for over 200 entrants each year and brings thousands of people flocking to an otherwise quiet island. To many sailors, Figawi Race weekend is more than just a well-known party weekend-it is something they plan their entire year around. Per their website, "The Figawi Charity generates nearly $200,000 per year, and has provided over $2.2 million in support to local organizations that would otherwise go without."
