Welcome to The Book Drop - Your September Update from the Marlborough Public Library!
Join Matt from the Marlborough Public Library as he walks you through everything happening this September - from animal encounters, creative workshops, fitness programs, author talks, and job-search assistance to book clubs for all ages. Plus, learn about the history of mass market paperbacks, explore our Library of Things collection, and hear what our librarians chose as their favorite reads from this year's Summer Reading Challenge. Let's get into it!

Library Hours:
The Marlborough Public Library is located at 35 West Main Street, and is open:
Monday - Thursday: 9AM - 8PM
Friday & Saturday: 9AM - 5PM
Sunday: 1PM - 5PM
The library will be closed on Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.

Donation Days:
The Friends of the Library will be accepting donations on:
- Wednesday, September 2 (12PM - 2PM)
- Saturday, September 19 (10AM - 2PM)
Please bring donations only during these designated collection times.

Our brand-new teen book club focuses on a monthly theme rather than a single book. This month's theme is unreliable narrators, and tweens and teens can read any book connected to the theme before joining the discussion.

The Rise and Fall of Mass Market Paperbacks:
Matt takes a look at the history of mass market paperbacks, from their beginnings in the 1930s and their role in making books cheaper and more accessible to readers to their eventual decline.

Library of Things:
Did you know the library offers more than books?
Matt answers a fan question about outdoor Jenga and explores the Marlborough Public Library's Library of Things collection, which includes musical instruments, lawn games, a podcasting kit, home inspection kit, cassette player, bird-watching kit, and even a radon meter?!
To check out Library of Things items:
- You must be 18 or older
- Your library card must be in good standing
- Items valued over $100 require a signed waiver
- Holds can be placed using the provided QR codes
- Items must be returned to the Marlborough Public Library circulation desk
There's a whole collection of unique items waiting to be checked out!
