Southborough Fire Destroys Cottage St. Home

A fire that put one woman in the hospital ripped through a couple's home in Southborough on Easter weekend.

Police say the fire broke out around 2am in the kitchen, and while the cause is still under investigation the homeowner credits their smoke alarms with helping him get himself and his wife to safety.

While firefighters did arrive on the scene very quickly, homeowner Bob Kane says he was not able to save the family pet. He and his wife are calling the home a total loss but now doing the best they can to rebuild, grateful to be alive.
