Marlborough Names Christie Rambetsy As 2018 Senior Of The Year

The 2018 Senior of the Year Awards came to Marlborough High School Wednesday night, honoring a local resident for their outstanding service. "It's one of those fun nights in the city where you get to recognize a senior that's really committed to the community," says Mayor of Marlborough Arthur Vigeant.

The crowd enjoyed a three course meal served by city officials and jazz music as Mayor Vigeant announced the 2018 Senior Of The Year, Christie Rembetsy. Rembetsy is a World War II and Korean War veteran dedicated to serving the community and supporting local veterans, with his family standing by him in support as he accepted the award. "I'm very proud and honored that he was a Korean War Veteran. In that time and age, men and women went over, left their families behind and certainly close to Memorial Day weekend now that is close to my heart to see (the award) go to a veteran," says John Irish, City Councilor. Irish, along with fellow city councilors Christian Dumais, Don Landers and Joseph Delano.

"Tonight with Christie it was a special event. I've known Christie for number of years, and he's been very dedicated to helping the veterans and the Seniors throughout the city," says Vigeant.
