Memorial Beach Trashed During Holiday Weekend

Trash overflowing from garbage cans, bottles and cans littering the sand and park benches covered in debris: this was the scene at Memorial Beach in Marlborough the morning after Memorial Day. Residents have been outraged after the destruction of a well loved beach that took DPW Park Employees 6 hours to clean.

In a statement, a representative from the DPW said, “We would appreciate the public’s help in keeping the beach as well as all the city’s recreational facilities clean for the enjoyment of everybody.” While the beach is cleaned daily, a representative says they plan to add six new trash barrels and four ash barrels to the beach to help alleviate overflow in the barrels.
