Framingham Man Arrested Following Threats To Pregnant Woman

FRAMINGHAM- A woman who is seven months pregnant was forced to jump from a moving vehicle early Saturday morning to seek help after her ex-boyfriend threatened her with a BB gun.

Police say the woman was receiving a ride home from her ex-boyfriend, 36-year-old Framingham resident Zaid B. Shabazz, following a Celtics game the pair had attended when he became agitated that she was ignoring his advances. He then began accusing her of stealing his marijuana before pulling a BB gun from his waistband and threatening to shoot the victim in the chest. Fearing for her life, the woman jumped out of the moving pickup truck and ran to the Shell gas station on Waverly Street to call police.

Officers were able to locate Shabazz at his Framingham home, where he denied threatening the woman and claimed they only had a minor argument and he refused to drive her the rest of the way home. Five officers placed him under arrest without incident for threatening to commit a crime and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Shabazz plead not guilty, and was released on $200 bail following his arraignment Monday morning. He is due back in court on February 13th.
