Marlborough Experiences One Robbery, One Attempt in Same Week

MARLBOROUGH- On December 23, Marlborough police received reports of a robbery at Honey Dew Donuts on Boston Post Road. At around 4 p.m., a woman wearing a ski mask entered the store and told employees to open the register. She carried a plastic bag and tried to jump over the counter to open the register herself. Before officers arrived, the suspect fled without taking any money.

Four days later, police received a similar report of a robbery at Avidia Bank on Maple Street. After 5 p.m., a man wearing a bandana to cover his face demanded an employee give him money. He fled before officers arrived. After a search of the area, it was unable to determine if the suspect traveled on foot or in a vehicle. Police are aware of how much money was stolen, but cannot release that information at this time.

No weapon was used or mentioned in either incident. Marlborough police have no reason to believe the two are connected, but both robberies are still under investigation.
