Man Asked To Leave Bar Attacks Bartender With Knife

MARLBOROUGH- A Marlborough man is facing a list of charges after he was asked to leave a local bar and responded by attacking staff members.

Police were called to the Prospector East Saloon on Lincoln Street for a disturbance around12:30am on Tuesday for reports of a man attacking the bartender with a knife. Witnesses say the bartender had cut off 33-year-old Jose Paz from drinking and ultimately had to have him removed from the restaurant due to his behavior. Paz allegedly returned to the bar a short time after with a 2 1/2 inch folding knife, speaking to them in a language they could not understand and waving the weapon.

During the struggle, Paz was struck by an employee with a chair as they attempted to call police. The suspect then took off on foot, and was found not far from the Prospector Saloon smelling strongly of alcohol with a knife matching the witness description in his pocket. He was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for his injuries.

Paz is now facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.
