Host Ryan Malyar sits down with Dale Dolesh and Stacey Militello of the Marlborough St. Vincent de Paul Society to talk about how this all-volunteer group has quietly become one of the biggest lifelines in our community. Founded in Paris in 1833, the St. Vincent de Paul Society now spans 155 countries — and in Marlborough, two conferences (Immaculate Conception and St. Matthias) work together to help neighbors in need, no matter their background. Last year alone, their roughly 40 volunteers made over 225 home visits, met with more than 400 individuals, and provided over $163,000 in financial support for rent, utilities, medical costs, and more. Dale and Stacey share what a home visit actually looks like, why they focus on listening and empathy first, and a real story of a Marlborough family they helped after a medical emergency threw their finances into chaos. We also get the details on their biggest fundraiser of the year: the Friends of the Poor Walk, happening Saturday, September 26th, 2026. Now in its 10th year in Marlborough, the 3-mile walk along the Marlborough Rail Trail is free to join, dog-friendly, and family-friendly and has raised $180,000 over the past nine years.
