Helpful Tips for Successful Herb Gardening Free talk on May 13 at Marlborough Public Library Basil, rosemary, thyme, dill, chives, parsley, cilantro, and many other herbs are easy to grow and tasty additions to any home garden. Having a ready source of these delicious flavors makes it simple and affordable to add fresh herbs to any number of recipes. Here are some tips to ensure your herbs thrive:

  • Herbs can thrive in containers, so even those with small spaces can enjoy their benefits.

  • Most herbs need 6+ hours of sunlight, so select your planting spot with care. Containers can be moved to meet light requirements.

  • Be mindful of water requirements. Some herbs, like oregano and thyme, are fairly drought tolerant. Others, like basil and parsley, do better with regular watering. You can learn more in Successful Herb Gardening, a free talk on Wednesday, May 13 at 7pm at the Marlborough Public Library. Speaker Kate Donovan of Blackstone Valley Veggie Gardeners will discuss how to plant herbs from seeds, how to propagate from cuttings, and share a variety of herb gardens so you can choose the design that is right for you. Presented by the Marlborough Garden Club.
