Nonprofit Neighbors Returns to Community Connections This November
Every November, WMCT-TV Community Connections turns its spotlight on the nonprofits that make Marlborough a better place to live. This year’s Nonprofit Neighbors series features five live conversations with the people behind local organizations that serve our children, families, veterans, seniors and neighbors in need.
Each conversation is relaxed, informal and live, so you can hear the story straight from the people doing the work. Episodes air at 1:00 PM at our studio at 91 Main Street.
Wednesday, November 4: Fruitful Beginnings Preschool
Michelle Sentovich (Preschool Director), Marc Minerella (CEO/Pastor) and Karina Hennessey (Preschool Teacher) join us. Fruitful Beginnings is a new 501(c)(3) preschool on Jefferson Street, across from Kelleher Field, approaching its second year. They’ll talk about preparing children for kindergarten and about making quality early education accessible by accepting both private-pay families and state childcare vouchers.
Monday, November 9: Marlborough Community Cupboard
Barbara LaGrenade (Director of the Marlborough Community Cupboard and Director of Volunteerism, United Way of Tri-County) and Nilsa Roman (Director of Human Services, City of Marlborough) talk about how the Cupboard supports Marlborough residents. It is far more than a food pantry. The Cupboard offers a weekly fresh produce marketplace, grocery delivery for homebound seniors, a clothing room, and case management that connects families with fuel assistance, housing help and SNAP support.
Thursday, November 12: Addiction Referral Center and Sweats for Vets
Mark Vital, Head Coach at The Advanced Math & Science Academy, joins us to talk about two nonprofits he supports: the Addiction Referral Center and Sweats for Vets. It’s two stories in one conversation, and a chance to learn how you can help.
Thursday, November 19: The Parmenter Foundation
Angela Crocker, Executive Director, joins us to talk about The Parmenter Foundation, a MetroWest nonprofit that offers guidance and resources for people facing end-of-life care, grief and loss. Since 2015, Parmenter has given more than $4 million in grants to nonprofits across MetroWest, including organizations here in Marlborough.
Monday, November 23: The Mayor’s Office and the Charity Fund
Mayor Christian Dumais joins us to talk about the Mayor’s Charity Fund and Charity Ball, and how the community comes together to support Marlborough families.
