Welcome to The Book Drop: August 2025 Edition!


This month is packed with exciting programs, book clubs, and summer surprises at the library! From creating your own video game to joining a Mario Kart tournament, there’s something for everyone - kids, teens, and adults alike.


The Marlborough Public Library will be hosting a FANTABULOUS carnival this month! Have a listen in on an exclusive interview with Erin Bassler for details on this event.


Programs for this Month:


- Intro to Pocket Forests: August 9th at 10AM

- Melodious Zach Performs The Beach Boys: August 9th at 2PM

- Interactive Super Mario Bros. Movie Screening: August 14th at 3PM

- Video Game Design with Scratch: August 19th at 2PM

- Mario Kart Tournament: August 20th at 1PM

- Brick Mania LEGO Party: August 23rd at 12PM

- Undiscovered Realms: “All Systems Red” by Martha Wells (August 6th at 6:30 PM)

- Adult Book Club: “Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow” by Gabrielle Zevin (August 12th at 6PM and August 14th at 11AM)

- Pride Book Club: Exploring the works of Audre Lorde (August 11th at 6PM)

- High Strangeness: Discussing The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins (August 27th at 6:30PM)

- Children’s Book Club: “Back to School, Weird Kids Rule!” by Dan Gutman (August 21st at 5:30PM)


Staff Beach Reads:


- "Death Valley" by Melissa Broder: Grief, hallucinations, and spiritual cactus journeys

- "People We Meet on Vacation" by Emily Henry: Predictable romances with depth

- "Heartstopper" by Alice Oseman: YA graphic novel romance

- "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky: Not your typical beach read... but hey, it works!

Summer Challenge: Find Gordon!
