Your Marlborough, Your Community: Don't Miss the March 2026 Marlborough Mirror
Spring is right around the corner, St. Patrick's Day is nearly here, and Marlborough has a lot going on this month. The March 2026 edition of the Marlborough Mirror — Issue #8, produced by your neighbors at WMCT-TV — is out now, and it's packed with stories, resources, and events that touch every corner of our city.
Whether you're a longtime resident or just getting to know Marlborough, this is one issue you won't want to skip.
What's Inside
Get your garden ready for spring. The Marlborough Garden Club kicks off the issue with timely advice on waking up your yard after a long winter — and a reminder from environmental experts to hold off on raking until temperatures hold steady above 50 degrees. If you're itching to get outside anyway, they've got you covered with tips on pruning, inspecting, and scrubbing out those planters. And if you want to go deeper, catch their free talk at the Marlborough Public Library on March 11th at 7pm.
The Senior Center is so much more than bingo. WMCT-TV Executive Director Ryan Malyar sat down with Trish Pope, Director of Senior Services, for a conversation that might just change how you think about 40 New Street. Twenty-one fitness classes a week. A working greenhouse. Free Medicare counseling that helped over 500 seniors during the last open enrollment period. Free AARP tax prep through April 6th. And a quiet, anonymous pop-up food pantry in the foyer — no appointment, no paperwork, just support. If you or someone you love is 60 or older, this article is a must-read.
MHS Wrestling ends the season in style. Panther senior captain Jack Cincotta spearheaded a community-funded effort to install a brand-new spotlight at the Fieldhouse — just in time for Senior Night. The team then went out and dominated Algonquin 54–12 under the new light. It's a feel-good story about student leadership, parent hustle, and school pride.
The Irish roots of Marlborough. With St. Patrick's Day approaching, Assistant Executive Director Mike Lawton explores how Irish immigrants shaped the very foundations of this city — from the shoe factories of the late 1800s to Immaculate Conception Church (founded 1854) to the city's earliest elected leaders. It's a piece of local history that's both timely and timeless.
Junior Reporters on the move. The WMCT-TV Junior Reporters have had a remarkable winter, interviewing a ninja gym owner, a Marlborough firefighter, and State Representative Danielle Gregoire — all in a few short months. Their stories about career paths, community service, and civic life are inspiring at any age.
